Best of Breed at Crufts 2009 for Pauline and Raoul

SH CH Raoul du Sulon at Brittyhill : A short history

I travelled to Brittany, to one of the most famous Brittany kennels in France, to see a litter of pups. I picked Raoul at 5½ weeks old. He arrived here at 9 weeks old for his 6 mths quarentine in 2000. He was a SH CH in 2002 and BOB at Crufts in 2003 and 2009. At age 9 years, he was entered in the veteran class, as he was starting to look his age, and to my surprise he won [there were 4 entries]. We went into the challenge very pleased with ourselves, Raoul is always a handful and did his usual leaping up and down, then to my utter amazement, the judge walked up to us and suddenly there was the ticket in my hand. When BOB came, the bitch as it happend, was his granddaughter, SH CH Eatonite Bracken, who Raoul always wants to jump on, but stangely he almost ignored her and suddenly Raoul aged 9 was BOB. WOW what a day. In the big ring he did his bit [just] and proceeded to lay on his back with his feet in the air, as if to say "well I've done my bit, 8 CH children and 2 CH grandchildren. Now I can retire." which he has and in what better way. He's my super boy and is much loved.

Pauline Beaven.
